Soil & Soul Reconnection – Deep Nature Connection and Mindfulness Yoga

"If my outer body is the soil, then my inner being is the soul.” – Satish Kumar

When we are all busy living our colourful lives in this fast-paced city, do we remember what sustains life itself?

As busy urbanites, we spend most of our time in air-conditioned rooms under artificial lighting. We spend hours looking into a screen as if that’s where we belong. We spend endless hours feeding the hyper-connectedness of the digital world. And yet we seldom spare any time to connect with mother nature and our inner selves.

If you think that taking time out for yourself is a luxury, we invite you to take this opportunity to offer yourself that luxury. We invite you to gift yourself the time and space to make peace with what truly sustains us.

In this 4-hour experience, you will be guided to explore your relationship with nature, your body and your inner self through deep nature connection and mindfulness yoga.

Deep nature connection is a process of awakening your senses, opening your heart, tapping into your curiosity and sense of wonder, and allowing nature to unfold for you. You will be guided through a series of invitations that supports you to build you own personal relationship with nature. It’s an inner and outer exploration of the nature that lives within and outside us.

Mindfulness Yoga is a practice to bring your awareness back to the present moment, to feel your body and connect with your inner voice. You will learn to pick up the languages that your body and emotions want to deliver to you, which it may be commonly and usually overlooked in a busy life, and learn how to respond to them by means of a series of asana postures. It is a journey of self-exploration to understand more about your true colours.

Valerie Ma is a mindfulness yoga teacher based Lantau Island. She started her mindfulness practice a decade ago and earned her yoga qualification with Yoga Alliance from the Yin Yang Vinyasa teacher training by Janet Lau. Valerie incorporates her learnings from the health and mental challenges she once experienced throughout these years into her teaching, which cultivates the awareness to be applied into daily life, where compassion and curiosity to oneself is practiced to open the gateway to be in the moment, to restore balance of oneself physically, mentally and emotionally.
